35th Aberdeen-INFRASTRUCTURE RENEWAL PROGRAM

Neighbors:

Please note:

On March 2nd on 35th Aberdeen the city will be replacing a sewer main. The city is doubling the size of the sewer main from 12 inches to 24 inches to help reduce flooding and improve drainage.

For the residents that live on Aberdeen please be aware that parking restrictions will be in effect during working hours.

Click on this link to see the map and letters that were distributed to the public.

The great part about this is that it will improve the much needed infrastructure in the area.  As many of you may be aware there is little to no sewer runoff in our alleys or street.  This will be part one of correcting an antiquated system that dates back to 1877 before this area was as populated as it is today.

Despite our vigilance, it seems as though there was some notice (but insufficient) by the city to a public meeting held on 2/26 at the 9th district station.   Traffic reroute for Westbound traffic on the closed section of 35th (from Morgan to Racine) is alleviated by one of two routes:

1. Detour South on Morgan to 37th West to Racine and back to the 35th street light
2. Detour North on Morgan to 34th Place West to Racine, South to 35th

The project is estimated to run 12 weeks.

Obviously route #2 seems to be the popular route and has brought excessive traffic down the street in front of Wilson Playground.

If you have any questions I encourage you to call the Alderman at his office 773-254-6677. I have been in contact with the Alderman on this but encourage you to voice your concern as well if you feel inclined to do so.
